More Senseless Violence In Chicago

This is a damn disgrace. Why is it always the people who are trying to do something positive with their life that are always getting killed, yet the ones who are taking up space and causing problems still here?

WTF Files: Mother Kept 8 Year Old In Cage

Like I always say, people are losing their everlasting minds these days, and here's proof. Check out this story about a mother monster who kept an 8 year old child in a wooden cage while she and her boyfriend went to check out a movie:

[ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico woman and her boyfriend locked up an 8-year-old girl with developmental disabilities in a wooden cage, then left her alone while they headed out to watch a movie, police said Tuesday. Cindy Patriarchias and Edmond Gonzales took her three children to an elementary school Friday to watch the movie, a police report said. Patriarchias' estranged husband called police when he arrived at the school and learned that the 8-year-old girl was unattended at the mobile home. Police waited for an hour for Patriarchias and Gonzales to return before they could enter. Officers discovered a large homemade wooden cage in the corner of a bedroom with the girl inside. The cage had two latches on the door, a baby crib's mattress inside and was about 2 1/2 feet wide and 4 feet tall, police said in a statement. The girl didn't appear to have any physical injuries, police said. She was placed under the care of New Mexico's child-protection agency. A police spokesman said Patriarchias had been trying to adopt the girl but hadn't been able to reach the girl's birth mother to get her consent. The girl suffers from microcephaly – a condition that gives people an abnormally small head.] Source: Huffingtonpost.com

Big Daddy Kane Preps Album With New Supergroup

Big Daddy Kane (your favorite emcee's favorite emcee) is prepping a new album with a supergroup consisting of Big Daddy Kane, live hip hop group the Lifted Crew and singer Showtyme:

[ "The album is called Back to the Future, and we came together collectively - myself Big Daddy Kane, Showtyme, who sings with Pharoahe Monch, and the Lifted Crew - and we basically merged together...[with] three different units coming together as one to form Las Supper," he said, "What we tried to do is basically bring back the vintage '60s and '70s soul - which you see a lot of people doing [including] Sharon Jones, Amy Winehouse, [and] Raphael Saadiq - but combining it with vintage Hip Hop, like the stuff that I was doing from the beginning of my career [in] the Public Enemy, Rakim KRS-One era…[we're] doing it over nothing but live instruments - live guitar, live trumpet, even on down to the glockenspiel."] source: hiphopdx.com

Think Tank Tuesdays: Women Using Children As Weapons

This Think Tank topic is controversial, but not as controversial as the comments made by brother Tommy Sotomayor. In the following video he makes valid points about the terrible decision of some women to use their children for negative things. Some things he points out is purposely having children to get more money from welfare, involving children in adult arguments, and allowing children to do things they shouldn't be doing like twerkin'.

Where things get a little rough is Mr. Sotomayor has specifically called out black women for doing this. Check out the video, because this is definitely a topic that needs to be discussed because it's a problem that some women from all walks of life are guilty of. Let me know your thoughts down below or on Twitter - hashtag ThinkTankTuesdays

Unsigned Greats presents....
SMASH or TRASH
-----------------------------------------------
So many people hit me off with their projects I thought it would only be fair to share their material and have it critiqued by my readers. My only warning is there may or may not be some extremely wack stuff here, but on the other hand you might come across the next big thing, so be patient and fair. After you check things out, let me know what you think. Leave a comment below, or send me a tweet letting me know if the project is a smash or if it's trash. Then go let the artist know and tell them Big Jye sent ya! The whole point is to give the artists some feedback on their work. Let's go!

Motivational Mondays: Live The Dream

It's Monday and as we reflect on the vision Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had for mankind, let us remember that while somethings have gotten better, there is still much work to do and everyone  has a part they can do. My challenge to you today is to go out and live Dr. King's dream -- be a living example.

If you don't have any friends outside of your race extend the hand of friendship today to someone of another race. Learn about other cultures. Don't just smile and 'act' friendly, really establish a friendship. If you haven't done so before, stand up for injustice no matter where it may be. We are all one people despite where we come from or what we look like. We are all brothers and sisters in the human family.

Think Tank Tuesday: How Safe Are Our Kids

The question for this Think Tank Tuesday is do you think our kids safe today? Brother Tommy Sotomayor discusses the latest abduction of a 5 year old girl that happened in her school right outside of classes:

Here's an update on the little girl:

[PHILADELPHIA – Police say a 5-year-old girl who was taken from a Philadelphia school has been found safe just outside the city. Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says a man walking down the street early Tuesday heard cries for help and found Nailla Robinson hiding under a jungle gym in a nearby park. He says she's been taken to the hospital to be checked out, but that she's OK. The investigation is continuing. Police say Robinson was taken Monday morning from the Bryant School in west Philadelphia. Police say the woman introduced herself as "Tiffany," but her signature in the school visitor log was illegible. Police discovered that the girl was missing at about 3 p.m. Monday when a caretaker from the child's after-school program came to pick her up.] source: foxnews.com

Is Kenya Moore Crazy Or Laughing All The Way To The Bank?

Amidst rumors of paying a fella to be her pretend love interest so she could get on the Real Housewives of Atlanta (or RHOA for the initiated), Ms. Kenya Moore seems to be no stranger to controversy. As a dedicated viewer of the show, I think I can say with some amount of authority and assurance, she seems certified crazy most times sometimes on the show. The correct internet diagnosis would be bipolar because it seems like her highs are extraordinary highs and her lows are extremely low.

I wonder though, how much of this is real and how much is just to secure her spot for next season? You know if you aren't bringing the drama and keeping people interested you'll get the ax quick -- ahem -- Sheree Whitfield. I'm inclined to believe that the majority of the Kenya Moore story on RHOA is 90% made up; from the relationship with Walter Jackson, to just about everything else, save being Miss USA, and getting up there in age needing to pop out some babies.

One thing I'd bet my bottom dollar on is that despite looking all kinds of crazy on my TV, I don't doubt she is a strategic business woman. In fact, if the rumors are true and she staged the whole relationship with Walter just to be able to get on the show, I honestly ain't mad at her. Let's face it, for the viewing audience's entertainment people who star in reality shows are to some degree exploited. The picture we're fed of people has some truth, yet that truth may be distorted and manipulated to the liking of the producers and those in the editing rooms. So basically, if they want a person to be "the bad guy" then with a little help from the editors it will be so.

So can I blame Kenya for doing a little exploiting of the show for her own personal gain (if that's what she's doing)? Not at all. In fact, she's taking that business savvy of hers and using it to get whatever paper can come out of the show by releasing a single that's sure to be in any of her straight to DVD flicks (and gay clubs around the world):

She's even gone so far as to turn a negative into a potential positive by putting her infamous catch phrase on t-shirts... you know the phrase I'm talking about, the one that had her looking all types of crazy, "I'm gone with the wind fabulous..." comment she made towards cast member Porsha Steward. Oh yes, fans of the "forty and fabulous" Ms. Kenya Moore will be happy to know that they can proudly wear her phrase across their chests like a badge of honor thanks to her new t-shirt line.

Think Tank Tuesday: Should Men Pay?

This Think Tank Tuesday question is definitely going to spark some heated debate among men and women. Here's the question, should women expect men to spend a lot of money on them when they're first meeting or first dating? There seems to be some women who think men are obligated to spend considerable amounts of money on them even if they are just getting to know each other.
The flip side of this question is if women can expect something (financial) from men,  is it okay for men to expect something (sexual) from women? Share this topic at the water cooler and point everyone to this blog entry. Check out the video below and feel free to leave a comment below or hit me up on Twitter.
