Lil Nas X's Song Exposes Country's Hidden Racism

When Lil Nas X put a country song over a trap beat to make "Old Town Road" he probably thought he was just cooking up something new. He probably didn't think the same song would be a viral hit landing spots on several charts one of which being Billboard's Hot Country Songs. What may have really come as a surprise though, is how quickly Billboard dropped him from the country chart for not being -- you ready for this? -- country enough. A lot of people have been questioning the real motive behind Billboard's decision and of course they mention it had nothing to do with race. In fact the organization claimed:
"Billboard’s decision to take the song off of the country chart had absolutely nothing to do with the race of the artist.
Sure Billboard, sure. Check out the video below:

When Students Have To Teach Teachers

If your child came home sharing what they learned in school with you and what they shared was wrong how would you handle it? Watch the video below to see how one parent dealt with how a white teacher erroneously taught black history to a black child:

Will 'Black Panther' Be Boycotted Because of Michael B. Jordan's Non-Black Girlfriend?

Two days into 2018 and foolishness has already shown up. People (obviously with nothing else better to do) have decided that boycotting Marvel's new "Black Panther" movie because actor Michael B. Jordan is dating outside of his race is a good idea. I know what you're thinking foolishness at this level must be from the KKK but believe it or not the rumor mill has it that black women are responsible. Read more here!

Fired Over Porn Past

Skeletons from your past can potentially haunt you later on in life. That's exactly what happened to former 6th grade teacher Resa Woodward who was fired from her job because of her porn past which took place close to 20 years ago. Ms. Woodward has made it clear that she no longer makes porn and in fact she did it due to unfavorable circumstances in her life at the time. This week's Think Tank question is should a person still be punished for decisions they made in the past?

45 Years Later Residual Effects From Tuskegee Experiment Still Linger

Can you imagine unknowingly being part of an experiment where your health and well being are purposely compromised just to track the destructive nature of a disease? How about even when the disease begins to do horrible things to your health you're not given proper care or a cure? Sounds like the plot of a horror movie? Well it's not.

It's exactly what happened to hundreds of black men in this country several decades ago. No mad scientist on an uncharted island, just the U.S. government with no respect or concern for the lives of others:

Ladies Submissive in 2017?

Is a woman being submissive in a relationship outdated thinking or still favored in 2017? As you can guess there are supporters on either side of the issue. Excluding men from the discussion, some women find the thought of being submissive to a man in a relationship highly offensive and demeaning,  while others find no fault with it and actually prefer it in a relationship.

Should Stacey Dash Get Her "Black Card" Back Or Nah?

Stacey Dash has made it crystal clear, she is no friend of the black community. According to her, there shouldn't be a Black history month, BET or black awards and for all of her hard work shucking and jivin' for Fox News, she was given the ax by the network -- on her day off.

Gone But Not Forgiven?

Bishop Eddie Long will probably go down as one of the most controversial mega church pastors in history. After news of alleged homosexual romps with young boys surfaced Long's reputation diminished and his church was torn. Some church goers supported their pastor while others left the church.

Think Tank Tuesday 11/8: Running Off Of Black Failure

In the video below Youtuber Yvette Carnell discusses how the "failure of black life in America" is exactly what keeps this country running. According to Carnell businesses like payday loans and liquor stores are feed off of and thrive due to the failings of blacks:

Think Tank Tuesday 11/1: Black Mothers Don't Like Being Moms?

Mr. Controversy Tommy Sotomayor is back doing what he does best, picking on black woman. Today's discussion deals with black mothers exhibiting THOT-like behavior with their children tagging along. To be specific he makes reference to black mothers dressing sexy and going out with their kids on Halloween. In the video below, he makes some strong accusations against black mothers and seems to dog them out a bit. Check it out and see if you agree or disagree:

What are your thoughts? Was Tommy Sotomayor right in his assessment of black mothers wanting to "have fun" more than being a mom or do you think he's nitpicking?

Think Tank Tuesday 10/11: Clean Face: Is Makeup Overrated?

How important is makeup to you? Have you ever gone out without wearing makeup? If so, were you completely uncomfortable? In the following video women go out and about without makeup and you won't believe what they experienced:

What are your thoughts? Who's to blame for the pressure put on women to look glamorous with makeup? Where did the notion that makeup is synonymous with glamor in the first place? Will you take the clean face challenge?

Think Tank Tuesday 10/4: Chivalry or Gratitude...Which is Dead?

Women are doing some serious complaining about guys these days. The reasons for the complaints vary from person to person but they're all rallying around the 'chivalry is dead' banner.

Fellas who were raised with old school values were taught to open doors for women, pull out their chairs, give them their coat to keep them warm, etc. These behaviors were as I was taught, what men did for women -- it was expected. Even though those basic acts of common courtesy were expected from men they were met with gratitude from women which leads to my point. If it can be said that chivalry is dead then is it safe to say women killed it and lack of gratitude was the weapon they used?

Take this example. A man holds the door open for two women, the first woman thanks the man but the second woman doesn't. Then the first woman holds another door open and the second woman walks through it thanking the first woman. Was the man invisible to the second woman? Why would she thank the first woman and not the man?

I'm sure someone somewhere is going to try to give an explanation for why she didn't express gratitude towards the man but did to the woman -- perhaps she thought she was the Queen of Sheba and the man was one of her lowly door holding minions. Maybe she thought he was going to use holding the door open as a way to ask for her number. Here's one, maybe he was invisible but she saw the other woman. As silly as those explanations are they're easier to comprehend than why two people holding a door open for a woman but only one of the people received a thank you.

The bottom line is women need to understand that this so called death of chivalry is nothing more than a cause and effect thing -- because women are meeting men's acts of kindness with a severe lack of gratitude, men have stopped performing acts of chivalry.

After this blog entry I know I can expect to see angry mobs of women with torches and pitchforks standing around me threatening to burn me at the stake, but someone has to wake them up out of their long slumber. So I submit to you today that chivalry is alive and well, maybe a little abused, and taken for granted but alive nonetheless. It's gratitude that is in desperate need of resuscitation. A campaign to resurrect chivalry can't be held without acknowledging that gratitude needs to be resurrected itself.  In other words there needs to be a balance, chivalry and gratitude go hand in hand and if one is suffering you better believe the other is out of whack too.

What are your thoughts? Is chivalry or gratitude dead and what kill them? How can we remedy the situation?

Think Tank Tuesday 9/27: Why Some Blacks Avoid The Stock Market?

Dr. Boyce Watkins stopped by VladTV to discuss building wealth and why some blacks avoid the stock market.  Conditions and reasons for the lack of blacks investing in the stock market are also discussed in the video below, check it out:

What are your thoughts? Do you think blacks avoid the stock market as described in the above video and if so do you agree with what Dr. Watkins outlined as the main reasons for the lack of blacks investing in the stock market? If you do invest in the stock market what are some steps the black community can take to get more people investing?

Think Tank Tuesday 9/20: Is The Restroom A Privilege Or A Right?

If your child came home and told you they had to earn bathroom time would you be okay with that or would you find fault with it? Today's question for the think tank is should students have to earn the privilege of using the bathroom? One teacher thinks so check out this story:

[A mother in Texas is up in arms over a dysfunctional classroom rewards system in her son’s class. The teacher of the class gives the children fake currency as a reward for good behavior. The fake currency can then buy her students certain privileges, one of which is using the bathroom. After her 7-year-old son wet himself in class, Sonja Cross is outraged.

The fake currency is known as “Boyd Bucks” at J.O. Davis Elementary in Irving, Texas. Cross’ son did not have enough Boyd Bucks to go to the bathroom and tried his hardest to hold it in. After his efforts failed he urinated in class. Cross’ son has been teased by other children as a result of this incident.]

What are your thoughts? Was the teacher wrong to make students buy their bathroom time? Should the teacher be reprimanded for making their student wet themselves in class? Should using the restroom be privilege instead of a student's right?

Think Tank Tuesday 9/13: Dressed Too Sexy To Teach?

source: instagram.com/triceyl__
Things have certainly changed since I was in school -- technology, lack of art & music programs and how teachers look. Some may not believe it but the picture to the right is of a 4th grade teacher.

Most of my teachers from elementary right through high school looked like they were auditioning for the part of the Wicked Witch of the West -- daily. Today's kids just don't know how fortunate they are to have teachers that actually look like people but I digress.

Today's Think Tank conversation starter is about the beautiful sister in the picture who's the subject of a heated debate. Patrice "Tricey" Brown set the internet on fire overnight when it discovered that such a beautiful specimen was an elementary teacher in Atlanta (yeah I know, I feel cheated too). While no one is crazy (or blind) enough to deny she's beautiful the actual negative attention is towards her choice of clothing for the classroom. It's deemed as too form fitting and sexy.

Think Tank Tuesday 8/23: AIDS or Crack...Come Clean Eddie Long

The controversial Bishop Eddie Long is back in the news (no he's not allegedly having sex with teenage boys again) this time it's because of his drastic weight loss (yes the above picture is Eddie Long). According to Mr. Long his extreme transformation is a result of him becoming a vegan but as a 15 year vegetarian who implements a raw vegan diet from time to time I can wholeheartedly say I'm not buying that explanation one bit! The brother really needs to come clean and tell the people is it AIDS or drugs because veggies didn't do this to him:

What are your thoughts? Is Bishop Eddie Long caught in another lie? Is he on drugs or do you think he may have contracted "the monster" as some seem to think?

Think Tank Tuesday 8/16: White Man Allowed To Cover His Hate Group Tattoos

Isn't it interesting how when a black person is accused of a crime there is a push to find images to illustrate the individual in an unfavorable light, so when this story aired it was just another indicator that there is something very wrong in the United States:

What are your thoughts? Is this merely a coincidence? Do you think this same judge would have done the same for a black of Hispanic male with gang or hate group tattoos?

Think Tank Tuesday 8/9: Police Body Camera Mysteriously Not Working When They Killed Someone

Once again another story about police killing someone but their bodycam wasn't working:

[At least three officers fired their weapons at 18-year-old Paul O’Neal when he sideswiped them while driving a stolen vehicle, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The Cook County medical examiner’s officer determined that O’Neal died from a gunshot wound to the back.

“He got shot in the back. That means he was defenseless,” said Lynn Farley, a friend of O’Neal, according to ABC 7.

Now the Tribune is reporting that the body camera of the Chicago officer who fired the fatal shot was not working at the time of the shooting.

All three officers involved were all relieved of duty on Thursday night following the shooting and now the department is investigating why the body camera wasn’t working. Paperwork reportedly indicates that the officer had only recently been issued a body camera.] source

What are your thoughts? Should police bodycams not working be a valid excuse for officers involved in fatal shootings or alleged police brutality cases? Should officers be reprimanded when their equipment has been tampered with?
