Think Tank Tuesdays: Deadbeat Dads
Today's Think Tank Tuesdays entry deals with one of the biggest problems in the black community which happens to be deadbeat dads, AND the women who support them. The lesson is in the nonsense that was contained in this episode:
"The True Nigs", Should You Be Offended?
So there's a group of white guys on Youtube that spammed my inbox and to my surprise and dismay they have a little show titled, "The True Nigs." Yep -- you read correctly. (and for you sorry sap-suckers acting like you don't know what the word Nigs means check it out here!)
So after seeing their name and assuming they were black (yes my people do dumb stuff like that) I clicked on the video and found that they were all white. I started to question my own logic. I was thinking maybe nigs is an actual word that I never came across before (yeah right), because surely these guys can't be so bold as to use a form of the n-bomb so comfortably. One of the guys answered all my questions when he explained the group like this, "we're basically just a bunch of nigs or friends...." and my jaw dropped.
If there's one thing that pisses me off it's white people who feel comfortable using the n-word in any form or fashion and these guys seem to have no problem using it. While trying to get to the bottom of what these guys were about I was reading the comments section and saw the following:
Who's to blame? Naturally the guys on the show, but the bigger culprits are those members of the black community who continue to perpetuate the word as a term of endearment. Pardon me but if nigga is nigger magically transformed into a new positive word then let me see how many guys would respond positively to the word faggot if we change the spelling to faggit and say this spelling represents a new positive term of endearment amongst men. I'm sure that will go over really well.
Black folks are really slipping; allowing people outside of our race to use the n-bomb freely -- what's next? Let outsiders come and rape our women as long as they wear a smile on their face? What do you think? Leave a comment below or hit me on Twitter.

How Much Money Does Your Favorite Rapper Have?
Everyday we're bombarded with braggadocious songs (unless you're like me and don't listen to the radio anymore) about lavish lifestyles, exotic women & cars and the abundance of money all at the fingertips of rappers. So thanks to Celebritynetworth.com a list of the top 20 richest rappers was put together, and now we'll see just how true their claims in their records are.
1st the criteria for inclusion to the list:
"We started off with more than 50 artists in the hip hop industry, then narrowed the list down to the top 20 richest rappers alive today. The moguls on this list control over $3 billion. The vast majority of the people on this list are African-American which unfortunately is rare for a list on Celebrity Net Worth. One common theme among these richest rappers is that they all have leveraged their popularity to launch new business ventures. Many of these artists made far more money outside of hip hop than they ever did selling records. There are actually 22 artists on this list thanks to a handful of ties, we also included three bonus celebrities who are not rappers but have had a major influence on the genre. The secret to being one of the richest rappers seems to be in clothing lines, owning your own record label and investing in commercial products you sell to the mass public."*
And here are the results:
"#20 Rick Ross – Net Worth $25 Million
#19 Tie between T-Pain and T.I – Net Worth $30 Million
*source: CelebrityNetWorth.com

Now when you hear a rapper bragging about how much money they have you can tell them they ain't even in the top 20.

K-Town Episode 1
I've been saying it for a while now that people are tired ofbeing robbedpaying high premiums for cable and/or satellite TV so they're cutting the cable and turning towards the internet for entertainment. The trade off is some networks aren't playing nice so you might not be able to catch all of your favorite TV shows online, but with quality internet shows like K-Town you won't be at a total loss.
About K-Town, "K-Town" is a new, dynamic unscripted reality show that explores the lives of incredibly colorful Asian Americans who reside in the heart of Koreatown, Los Angeles - the vibrant Korean culture center that is sandwiched between the bohemian spirit of downtown Los Angeles and the business district of the Miracle Mile. From karaoke bars to night clubs, the series follows the cast as they discover themselves and what it means to be Asian American growing up in the 21st century." source: http://www.facebook.com/ktownrealityshow/infoWe need more quality shows like this on the web because internet TV will be the wave of the future, just remember Big Jye told you!
Big shout out to Issa Rae from the hit internet show "The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl" who recommended the show....I watched the first episode and loved it. And now Check out K-Town:
After watching K-Town, show your love on their facebook page and let them know Big Jye sent you there!

Move Your Body, Improve Your Mind
Remember back in the day when kids actually went outside and played with their friends? Remember double dutch, street ball (that's basketball with a milk crate that served as a make-shift hoop)? How about hop scotch, four square, and hide and go seek? Those were some of the games we played growing up as kids. According to Furman University, Mathematica Policy Research, and The University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga those games we played have more benefits then just keeping kids entertained for hours; in fact their individual studies are pointing to a link between physical activity and cognitive abilities. Here's more:
"The health benefits of physical activity go without saying, and research continues to show that even small amounts can help. For African-American children, the impact is even more pronounced, according to researchers at Furman University, in Greenville, SC who found that exercise can also help sharpen a child's cognitive ability. In their study, published in the Journal Of Physical Activity & Health last month, elementary and middle school children who participated in 45 minutes of daily physical education were shown to have significantly greater improvements on cognitive tests than children who did not participate. The kids who exercised more also outperformed their peers on fitness and body composition tests. A similar study from Mathematica Policy Research and the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities at Stanford University, found that students who engaged in recess programs called Playworks were not only less likely to bully their peers but took 27 percent less time to transition from recess to classroom learning than those who didn't participate. In addition, just last week, researchers from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga and some 16 countries around the world reported more than 5.3 million deaths might be avoided each year if all inactive people began exercising." source: http://www.huffingtonpost.comKeep this in mind, a healthy body produces a healthy mind and a healthy mind produces a healthy spirit. So get up and get that body moving whether young or old. Health is Wealth.

The Amount Of Soda You Drink Could Be Key To Your Health Issues
I'm proud to say that I hardly drink soda. In fact anyone who knows me knows that my beverage of preference is water; good ol' H20! I might have a sprite once every blue moon or so but according to recent research conducted by the Yale University Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, 48 percent of surveyed Americans drink soda daily. That's crazy! Do you have any clue what that does to the enamel on your teeth and your overall health? If you don't you better keep reading! Here's more:
"...among those who drank soda, the average daily intake was 2.6 glasses per day. Rates of soda consumption were higher with young adults -- 56 percent of those 18 to 34 admitted to guzzling the sweet stuff. And that shouldn't come as a total surprise: we already know that soda is the largest source of sugar in the diet of children and adolescents. Of note, though soda consumption is linked to obesity, there was no difference in the self-reported weights of those who drank soda daily and those who did not, reported MSNBC. In both groups, an average 40 percent reported being somewhat or very overweight. The researchers attributed this, to some extent, to the lack of distinction between full-calorie and diet sodas in the survey. But when it comes to sugar sweetened beverages, it isn't just the additional calories that are problematic. A diet high in added sugar -- particularly liquid sugar -- has been associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome and with higher rates of Type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, insulin resistance and cardiovascular difficulties. And some research suggests that high-fructose corn syrup [HFCS], the sweetener used in most soda, is particularly associated with increased body fat. As HuffPost Healthy Living blogger Dr. Mark Hyman explained: HFCS is absorbed more rapidly than regular sugar, and it doesn't stimulate insulin or leptin production. This prevents you from triggering the body's signals for being full and may lead to overconsumption of total calories." Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.comPicture credit: http://withfriendship.com

Co-op of the Damned - The Killer
This is some funny stuff. It's a known fact that in most horror movies the black person is the first to die, and it's completely understandable. You see, when black people hear suspicious noises in the woods, they leave and don't go investigate. Wait did I say in the woods? Let me back up black people wouldn't even venture into creepy woods. As a matter of fact watch this video, it does a great job illustrating exactly what would happen in a horror movie with more then 1 black person in it:
As you can see, the movie would be over within a few minutes.

Needles On A Plane!
If you thought the movie 'Snakes on a plane' was frightening wait until you read this!
"Jim Tonjes was high above North America when he bit into a hot turkey sandwich aboard a Delta Air Lines flight and felt a sudden jab in his mouth.
If it's one thing Samuel L. Jackson can't stand, it's needles on a plane:

"Jim Tonjes was high above North America when he bit into a hot turkey sandwich aboard a Delta Air Lines flight and felt a sudden jab in his mouth.
Glancing down, he noticed what looked like a sewing needle in the food. Another passenger on the plane reported the same thing.
At first, he thought a toothpick meant to hold the sandwich together had punctured the roof of his mouth. When he pulled it out, 'it was a straight needle, about one inch long, with sharp points on both ends.'
Now U.S. and European authorities are trying to determine how the needles got into meals served on at least four Delta flights from Amsterdam to the U.S. and why anyone would place them there.
'We are keeping all options open because at this moment, we have no idea why somebody or something put needles inside the sandwiches,' said Robert van Kapel, a spokesman for Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.
The FBI and the airport's police department have opened criminal investigations. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration said it does not view the matter as a national security threat." source: huffingtonpost.comIf it's one thing Samuel L. Jackson can't stand, it's needles on a plane:

Did Lil Wanye Smash It?
I came across a story about Lil' Wayne passed out in his boxers with a groupie snappin' a quick picture of her and him unbeknownst to him (he was sleep duh). Typically I stay away from stories like this on my blog, but I'll keep it 100, I'm actually a little curious. Honestly she's not bad on the eyes.
Whether you like him or not, you can't overlook the fact that Wayne has a track record of smashing some dime pieces. His list of baby momma's alone is impressive... ahem -- Lauren London -- nuff said.
I'm only including this picture because I know you nosy people want to see what I'm talking about...shame on you all.
I hear she's a dancer and from the look on his face she may have showed him a few of her 'moves'. Lil Wanye if you read this hit me up and let me know if you smashed or not, I won't tell *wink*.

Have You Met Cocoa Sarai Yet?
If you've never heard of Cocoa Sarai I think you should get yourself acquainted -- quickly! This sister is on the path to being the next big thing in my opinion. Let me give you a little background.
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY she's been singing since she was knee high to a grasshopper as the old folks say; her earliest memory of singing was at age 3. In the video below you'll hear that her grandmother knew that she was destined to be a singer based on her cries as a baby.
Unfortunately she lost her mother back in November but I'm certain her mother her baby girl was going to make it all the way. Now that you're 95% up to speed on who this rare gem is check out her music:
