If your significant other cheated on you and had a child with the person they cheated with would you take them back?

What are your thoughts? Would you take someone back who cheated on you? What about if they created a child as a result of their cheating?

Think Tank Tuesday 4/19: Reunited After 40 Years

Imagine being put up for adoption at birth and deciding to search for your biological parents 40 years later. That's exactly what happened to one man

[Robert Allen Jr., the youngest of six siblings, was put up for adoption by his birth mother because she couldn’t afford to care for him.

Being apart from his birth family since 1975, Allen says he always felt as if a piece of his life was missing. So on his fortieth birthday, Allen obtained his birth certificate and began looking for his family on social media.

“I put it on Facebook that I was looking for my mother and father,” Allen told My Fox Atlanta. “That was about 1:00 p.m. By 9:00 p.m. that night I was talking to my sister.”

Sister Stacy says she was initially skeptical of Allen’s story.

“Very skeptical because a lot of people, you know, you know a lot of people play a lot of games and things so you’re not sure if he was actually so once he answered a lot of different questions I knew at that point he was for sure,” Stacy said.

After she confirmed that Allen was her brother, she was ecstatic. “As soon as we found out I was talking to my sister, I just broke down in tears,” Allen told WCPO. “It was the best feeling I ever had in my life… and I had a lot of ups, high points in my life, but this was absolutely the best feeling I ever had in my life – to finally meet my siblings.”

If you were in the same situation do you think you would want to seek out your biological parents and meet any siblings you may have or would you leave that part of your life alone? Do you think it would be offensive if adopted children asked to find their biological parents?

Think Tank Tuesday 4/12: Race-based PTSD?

Can post traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) be caused by race-based trauma? The president and CEO of the Black Women's Health Imperative seems to think so:

[... Linda Goler Blount, president and CEO of the Black Women’s Health Imperative, wrote in The Root, July is National Minority Mental Health Month. She offers that watching repeated acts of violence is a source of stress and trauma in Black women. “Research has shown that stress and trauma from racially motivated events create reactions in Black women that are similar to post-traumatic stress disorder,” Blount said. “These reactions include depression, lack of sleep, anger and an inability to get thoughts about what happened out of one’s mind.” “The short-term and long-term impact of the stress that racial violence places on Black women is well-documented,” she added.

“Allostatic load, the technical term for the physiological consequences of chronic exposure to stress, is at the heart of a number of adverse health effects that disproportionately impact black women, including increased cortisol levels, higher rates of obesity/overweight and higher rates of low birth weight babies. This stress essentially weathers and ages the body, and can lead to premature mortality.” Blount maintains we must ensure Black women have the ability and right to raise their children in a healthy environment. It is about upholding health and wellness for Black women, and a matter of reproductive justice, she suggests.] source: atlantablackstar

What are your thoughts? Do you agree that race-based trauma has caused PTSD in black Americans?

Think Tank Tuesday 4/5: Role Reversal: Women Proposing To Men?

It's not uncommon to see women who bring home the bacon and fry it these days. Of course traditionalists will turn their noses up at such a thought; but even they have to respect a woman who has a career, takes care of the home, children and still manages to have time for her husband. It's impressive to say the least, but a woman that proposes to a man -- is that the last straw? Check out this video:
