Start Over!

One of the hardest things to do in life is to start over especially when you have time invested in something or someone. One reason is because part of the process of starting over is letting go. That's why we tend to steer clear of starting over; we'd rather spend time, resources and even our own well-being to fix what's well beyond repair. Failed relationships, dead end jobs, outdated dreams, etc., all need to be released and replaced with new beneficial relationships, careers, aspirations, etc., in their place. Unfortunately many will never step out on faith and start anew, instead they'll cleave unto that which is comfortable and as a result never achieve their goals.

One of my favorite books says, "there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens..." This includes a time when we must let go and and a time to rebuild. The farmer is aware of this principle and uses it to successfully produce crops year after year. Every crop has a specific lifecycle --  "a time to plant and a time to uproot." Holding onto crops beyond their lifecycle is a waste of time and resources, so the farmer begins the process of uprooting and getting rid of those crops which are no longer beneficial. All is not lost though, because in letting go, the farmer has now made room for new crops. In fact the old crops are ground up and used as a mulch to help produce a new batch of crops. Like the farmer we need to realize when our endeavors have reached the end of their usefulness and let go, using the lessons we learned from them as fertilizer to enrich our next batch of endeavors.

This week's challenge is to consider the farmer's mindset of starting over and implement it in your own life.
