Reality Hits Octomom!
The dream of having a big ol family has turned into a nightmare for Octomom. She claims she hates her children...smh. This is what happens when you're immature and have an unrealistic view of life. Children are one of the most beautiful blessings we're given in life, but they require constant work. Raising one child can be stressful and yes 14 would be off the chain, but ummm some of our great-grandparents did it successfully.
Octomom needs to grow up and love each one of those babies or start giving them up for adoption so loving people who for whatever reason can't have children of their own can experience the joy of parenthood. Read more here!

Census Shows Minority Babies Outnumber White Babies
“Currently, non-Hispanic whites make up just under half of all children 3 years old, which is the youngest age group shown in the Census Bureau’s October 2009 annual survey, its most recent. In 1990, more than 60 percent of children in that age group were white.”

Mom Charged With Murdering 5 Year Old Son
When 5 year old Jamar Johnson broke a television while playing Wii, his mother Kim Crawford hit him in his back and stomach admittedly harder than she's ever hit him. Her blows caused lacerations to Jamar's pancreas and intestine which became infected and later caused him to die. His death could have probably been prevented had she taken him to the hospital when she saw him vomit after getting hit, but she feared getting in trouble when the doctors would have seen his bruises.

TSA Removes 95 Year Old's Diaper During Search

13 year old Christin Choate's Writings Before Death
A very sad update on the Christin Choate's story reveals some of his last writings before his death.
Christin Choate was the boy who was horribly abused, forced to live (and eventually died) in a 3 foot dog kennel, then buried under a concrete slab. (For information on Christin Choate's case click here.)
His last writings revealed abuse, hunger and one of the most disturbing things was his desire to die because no one liked him. Just imagine, he lived out his final days wondering why no one liked him, and "...when someone, anyone, was going to come check on him and give him food or liquid." Kwame Kilpatrick Is Almost Free
One of the most infamous mayors in history is almost a free man after spending more than a year in prison. If you don't remember, he's the former mayor of Detroit who got busted getting his freak on with his Chief of Staff (amongst other things) on taxpayer's time/dime. Technically, he was busted having an extra-martial affair with his Chief of Staff and left an electronic 'paper trail' of some freaky deaky text messages between the two.

BBall Standout Survives Plane Crash
What's worse then being in a plane crash? Being in two plane crashes and losing loved ones in both. That's exactly what happened to Austin Hatch. In the first plane crash, he and his father survived, but his mother, and two siblings died. In the second crash his father and stepmother died. The 16 year old basketball player is now fighting for his life in the hospital, but the mental wounds of losing your whole immediate family will take longer to heal. 11th Hollywood Black Film Festival Announces Call for Entries for 2011
The Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF) -- recognized as one of the leading black film festivals -- is currently accepting submissions for the 2011 festival, to be held October 27-30, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. Regular submissions will be accepted from June 7 through July 24. The late deadline is August 7.
HBFF welcomes narrative features, shorts, student and documentary films for its competitive program. Animation films and music videos submitted are accepted for the non-competitive program only.
All films submitted must have been completed after September 1, 2010.
HBFF accepts film submissions from all filmmakers, however to be eligible for the festival's competitive program, one of the film's creative principals, i.e. the writer, director or producer must be Black or of African heritage. All other films will be considered for our invitational program. Please notify the festival in your application if your submission does not meet the requirements for the competitive program and you wish to be considered for the invitational program.
Narrative feature films should be at least 60 minutes in length; short films should be 30 minutes in length or less; and student films must have been completed while the filmmaker was enrolled as a full or part-time student in a college or university.
HBFF is an annual celebration of Black Cinema drawing together established filmmakers, popular film and TV stars, writers, directors, industry executives, emerging artists, and diverse audiences from Hollywood and around the world. Attracting such stars and industry insiders as Academy Award® winners Sidney Poitier, Forest Whitaker, John Singleton, Spike Lee, George Tillman, Tina Andrews, Reuben Cannon, Cedric The Entertainer, Anthony Anderson, Blair Underwood, Sanaa Lathan, Antwone Fisher, Ice-T, Rev. Run, Bill Duke, Loretta Devine, Rockmond Dunbar, Lamaan Rucker, directors Tim Story, Preston Whitmore, Rob Hardy, Oz Scott, Benny Boom and Jeff Byrd, and producer Will Packer, the festival has become a hotbed for the Black Hollywood community.
Since being founded in 1998 by its executive director, Tanya Kersey , HBFF has screened a total of 823 independent films including 151 features, 429 shorts, 128 documentaries, 86 student films, 14 animated films and 11 music videos, from all across the United States, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Canada, France, the UK and the Continent of Africa. It has held 402 world premieres, 15 U.S. premieres, 93 West Coast premieres and 60 Los Angeles premieres. Over 50,000 people have attended and enjoyed the diversity of Black Cinema through the festival.
Films that have screened at HBFF include director John Singleton's box office blockbuster, "2 Fast 2 Furious," the critically-acclaimed "The Hurricane" (starring Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington), director Kasi Lemmons' "The Caveman's Valentine" (starring Samuel L. Jackson), and director Reggie Rock Bythewood's "Dancing in September."

University of South Florida offensive lineman Danous Estenor rescued a tow truck driver who was pinned under a 1990 Cadillac Seville's tire. Estenor heard the tow truck drivers wife screaming for help and ran to see what was going on. When he got there he saw the wife and two men trying to lift the car off of her husband; that's when Estenor performed an incredible feat....read what he did here!
Full Scale Replica of Noah's Ark
For the past three years Johan Huibers has been building a full scale replica of Noah's Ark built from the specs recorded in the Bible. The ark is the length of a football field and four stories high. Upon it's completion, he plans on sailing it.

2 Year Old Dies In Daycare's Hot Van
When are people going to finally get it? Check and double check your vehicles for children. I've tried to understand how anyone could forget a child is in a vehicle, and the only thing I could come up with is maybe they had so much on their mind that they truly forget. If that's the case, we need instruments to remind us.

In my opinion, it should be mandatory for any child care center that uses transportation for children to implement a system that alerts when a child is still left in the vehicle.
This can be easily done with the use of RFID transmitters & readers. Each child wears an indentifying tag embedded with an RFID transmitter that is scanned by an RFID reader which would keep track of those entering and exiting the vechile, sounding an alarm if the same number that entered the vehicle didn't exit it.
A similar system could and should be used in parents vehicles, and maybe in this particular situation the alarm could sound on the car as well as communicating with the parent's smartphone. Something must be done to prevent these unnecessary deaths.

We have a very different kind of lineup this month in the store. Raekwon's DJ Thoro brings us some new blood he calls "Philly Wu-Tang" and before you say you have heard that type of thing before, be sure to give them a shot, they are definitely fire! Also Dj J-Love, Ghostface's DJ has made available some pretty dope albums, which we are distributing exclusively now.
