Think Tank Tuesday 4/21/15: #KylieJennerChallenge Gone Too Far?

Sometimes I sit and watch Kimmy Cakes and the rest of the Kardashian clan's antics and wonder if they might be a race of aliens from far away who've landed on planet earth with one goal in mind -- to bring about the demise of the human race via foolery, diminished intelligence and the eroding of morality?

Sound familiar? It should, in the 1980 John Carpenter classic "They Live" we saw a similar plot. For those of you who may have never heard of the movie here's a little summary. Aliens secretly infiltrate and take over earth's societies and brainwash humanity with subliminal messages which ultimately allows them to control the masses. To the the majority of humans the aliens looked like humans and their hidden messages went unnoticed. Only a handful of people were aware of the aliens' presence and what they were doing to the masses, thus they try to save humanity by exposing the aliens. Now tell me that doesn't sound like an episode of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians"? Okay I'll admit I'm being a bit facetious but you can't deny there is no rhyme or reason as to why or how Kim Kardashian became famous or how she parlayed a horrible sex tape into a $101+/- million dollar empire.

What we do know is that the Kardashian crew and now the Jenner girls are leading the youth astray with foolishness antics, lewd and lascivious behavior, recklessness, and other things that would corrupt if not destroy a young person's moral compass. Let me be clear, there are some things they do and/or openly admit to, and there are things they do that is quite obvious but they in my opinion strategically dismiss it.

Kylie's lips have grown in popularity similar to how Kim's cakes grew in popularity. Both deny the obvious and both came up with lame reasoning for how their parts (Kim's rear-end, and Kylie's lips) appear to be larger. If you ask me, Kylie's lip scandal is right out of Kim's playbook. I speculate that Kylie most likely got lip injections, which would bring attention to her, but when people begin to ask questions she responds with something ridiculous like using lip liner to make her lips appear larger then what they are. Sure a woman can outline her lips to make them look bigger, but that doesn't explain how the volume (thickness) appears to be increased. In other words lip liner won't make the lips look puffy.

The question of how Kylie's lips got so plump has ended up being the cause of a silly challenge that has unfortunately gone viral and has caused problems from some participants:

[...people participating in the Jenner challenge are leaving their lips and other body parts in a small glass bottle for far too long. The extreme suction causes their body parts to swell immensely and remain that way for longer than expected. Even for some attempting the Kylie challenge, unfortunately, incidents have occurred. The suction was so great for one man that the glass bottle exploded while his lips were still inside. That incident gashed his lips to the point where part of them were just hanging.

Needless to say, his lips do not favor Kylie Jenner’s lips at all. Seemingly, the public thinks Jenner’s body features look astounding. To similarly over-enhance other body parts, people have applied the Kylie challenge to their breasts, vaginal lips, and penises. There haven’t been any reported cases of mangled private areas, but let’s not count them out yet. The day is just getting started. And though Kylie personally has nothing to do with the challenge, she appears unbothered by everyone’s antics. As people go on to mangle their lips in Jenner’s name, she’s continuing her day unscathed.

There has to come a point where self-accountability must come into play. If you have seen the possible outcomes of Kylie Jenner challenge, why attempt it anyway? A better question is “why attempt it at all”? Like Jenner, hopefully, people come to their senses and just get on with their days before more injuries ensue.] source

What do you think? Do you believe Kylie's lip lining story or do you think she had injections? What are your thoughts on thousands of tweens taking the #kylejennerchallenge, what is it saying about parenting in the U.S.?
