Why You Should Always Show Respect

My mother used to always say you should always be kind to people and show them respect because you never know who you're talking to. My grandmother would take it a step further and add "you might be talking to an angel." Well this video below shows another individual you might be talking to that could have a definite impact on your life.....a CEO of the company you're working for....doh!

Meat Lovers Get Ready, Test Tube Burgers On Their Way!

If you're a meat lover (and maybe like to live life on the edge) you might want to pay close attention to this blog entry...

As if what they are currently doing to animals to get more meat and faster isn't enough, scientists (forever trying to play God) have decided they are going to create a patty (questionably hamburger) in a test tube. It's reported to be a long and expensive task, but after having an expected success with this first Franken-patty, they'll focus on optimizing the process.

Why are they playing with stuff like this? I'm so glad you asked! The powers that be want everyone to believe that there is a growing food shortage; to be specific a shortage of meat. They claim that there will be a massive demand for meat which the world won't be able to supply unless they use methods like cloning, growth hormones, and now this; creating synthetic meat. I say they're full of BS and here's why.

When you go to the grocery store and you look at food's expiration date, that is not the actual date the food item expires. That is the date that the store can no longer sell that product. Products are still good a few weeks to a few months (depending on the product and how it's kept) after that expiration date; even longer for organic foods. So what happens when stores don't sell by the expiration date? They remove the items from their stock and typically throw them away. This doesn't seem like a big deal but I'll put it in proper perspective in a moment.

What I just described is an example of what happens to one food item in a grocery store. So what happens when those food items number in the hundreds in thousands of grocery stores? Do you understand how major this can be? I should also mention when that expiration date or 'sell by' date is near the stores will mark down the products or start pulling them a week in advance. So imagine, the food one grocery store throws away in one day is enough to probably feed a portion of the hungry mouths in one city so imagine what all grocery stores, restaurants, etc., could do with GOOD food that they throw away daily. If every store in every city in every country did that the world would be less hungry. But unfortunately we live in a society and a world of greed, excess and waste. So instead of actually fixing the problem at its root, we fix symptoms which only mask the actual problem and eventually creates more complex problems.
"...an estimated 27 percent of the food available for consumption, according to a government study — and it happens at the supermarket, in restaurants and cafeterias and in your very own kitchen. It works out to about a pound of food every day for every American."source: nytimes.com
I think the answer is clear, we don't need to tamper with nature to produce more food for the world; first we need to stop being so wasteful and instead of throwing out perfectly good food just donate it to those in need. Let's use what would be a waste of good food and feed hungry mouths. Man needs to stop tampering with our food supply, LEAVE OUR FOOD ALONE!

Basketball Wives: The Drama Continues

Twitter beefs, assistants attacking ex-friends, and that's not even in front of the cameras. Evelyn Lozada clearly has it in for her ex-friend Jennifer Williams. Their ongoing beef must be powered by Duracell because it keeps going and going and going. They need to just put on some boxing gloves get it in, and be friends again.

No one is really clear on what caused the beef other than some high school-like "he said, she said, and I heard" stuff. Thankfully Evelyn says everyone is gonna know what time it really is (Big Jye paraphrase) in regards to the beef. According to the Urban Daily she said,
"When the show airs and the story fully comes out, you will see what happened."
Looks like we'll be waiting to see what unravels in the new season...Do you think Jennifer will throw a drink in Evalyn's face like she did Eric Williams? Or will Evelyn make a 'special' tshirt for Jennifer...oh the suspense...lol. Here's a little sneak peek to get you started:

Alyssa Bustamante Get's Life

If you aren't sure who Alyssa Bustamante is do yourself a favor and read this first: 15 Year Old Enjoyed Killing 9 Year Old

[Moments before her sentence was imposed, 18-year-old Alyssa Bustamante rose from her chair — with shackles linking her ankles and holding her hands to her waist — and turned to face the family of 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten, whom she confessed to killing in October 2009.

"I really am extremely, very sorry for everything. I know words," she said, pausing to take a deep breath and struggling to compose herself, "can never be enough, and they can never adequately describe how horribly I feel for all of this."

She later added: "If I could give my life to get her back I would. I'm sorry."

Elizabeth's mother, Patty Preiss, who on the first day of Bustamante's sentencing hearing called her an "evil monster" and declared "I hate her," sat silently, staring forward as Bustamante's finished her apology.

Cole County Circuit Judge Pat Joyce then sentenced Bustamante to the maximum possible sentence for second-degree murder — life in prison with the possibility of parole. She ordered the teenager to serve a consecutive 30-year term for armed criminal action, a charge resulting from her use of a knife to slit the throat and stab Elizabeth after she had strangled her into unconsciousness.

12 Year Old Saves Grandmother's House

One thing I love to do is share positive stories about kids doing big things. Here's one I'm sure everyone will like:

["When Noah's 72-year-old grandmother, Janice Sparhawk, fell behind on her mortgage payments for the home that had been in her family for three generations, the Wisconsin boy succeeded in raising $10,500 in a month, ABC News reports.

His efforts saved her house from the Feb. 15 auction just in time.

The young boy started Noah's Dream Catcher Network in 2010 to organize community service projects and give do-gooders a chance to donate to important causes.

"I want to help someone who is very dear to me for my next dream... My Grandma has fallen on hard times and is going to loose [sic] her home," Noah wrote on his website. "My Grandma in case you don't know her has a heart of gold. She has given so much to our community since I can remember!!!"] source: huffingtonpost.com

The Texas Man With The $16 House Finally Kicked Out

You don't have to be a law student to know this day was coming. After 8 months of living in a $340,000 house he basically got for $16 (due to an obscure law) Kenneth Robinson was kicked out. But not before he used that situation to kickstart other opportunities for himself such as his website: 16dollarhouse.com, his ebook: Open and Notorious: Kenneth Robinson on Adverse Possession, and even booking speaking engagements for himself to educate the public on adverse possession- the little known law that got him into his house.

I think when we ...ahem.... heard this story about a brother who used a little known law to get himself a $340,000 house for 16 bucks, black folk around the country may have secretly been cheering, for how someone finally stuck it to the man at his own game. But you know how things go in this country, it wouldn't take a fortune teller to know that the man will fight dirty and stick it to you twice. If need be they'd pull an even more obscure law outta their backsides just to kick him out, and well that's almost how things went:

[Robinson, 51, lived on Waterford Drive in Flower Mound, Texas, but he did not own or rent the home he claimed he had a right to live in. After the owner abandoned the property, which had been in foreclosure for over a year, and the mortgage company reportedly went out of business, he submitted a $16 filing fee at the local courthouse, claiming the law of "adverse possession" gave him the right to occupy the home.

However, a judge in Denton County ruled Monday that the current lienholder, Bank of America, can force Robinson out.

Robinson had became a local celebrity of sorts, writing an eBook and creating a website, http://16dollarhouse.com, about the home in which he lived for about eight months. On his site, he states, "I am successful because I can see it no other way."

After the judge's decision, he told the Associated Press that he had moved out, ending what he called a "huge learning experience."] source: yahoo news

Did You Know Fun Fact Of The Day: The World Without Cats

Did you know if cats disappeared off the face of the Earth the rodents would take over the world? Don't think so check this out:

"A 1997 study in Great Britain found that the average house cat brought home more than 11 dead animals (including mice, birds, frogs and more) in the course of six months. That meant the 9 million cats of Britain were collectively killing close to 200 million wild specimens per year — not including all those they did not offer up to their owners. A study in New Zealand in 1979 found that, when cats were nearly eradicated from a small island, the local rat population quickly quadrupled.
And if the rodent population shot up, this would of course trigger a cascade of other ecological effects. On that same island in New Zealand, for instance, ecologists observed that, as rat numbers increased in the absence of cats, the population of seabirds whose eggs rats preyed upon declined. If the approximately 220 million domestic cats in the world all bit the dust, seabird populations would likely fall worldwide, while the populations of non-cat predators that prey on rats would be expected to increase." source: yahoo news

15 Year Old Enjoyed Killing 9 Year Old

I say it all the time, people are losing their everlasting minds, and this is just one more story to add to the collection of evidence for that statement. It's actually a tragic story of 2 young girls. One a 9 year old who's life was snuffed out by a then 15 year old suicidal girl who was repeatedly abandoned by her mother and her father was in prison. Not making any excuses for what she did, just pointing out the fact that if you have children you need to be there in their lives parenting them so things like this are less likely to happen:

"Bustamante, 18, sat silently — occasionally glancing at those testifying about her, often looking down or to the side — as law enforcement officers, attorneys and forensics experts read aloud her innermost thoughts that she had recorded as a 15-year-old high school sophomore.

The most poignant part of Monday's testimony came when a handwriting expert described how he was able to see through the blue ink that Bustamante had used in an attempt to cover up her original journal entry on the night of Elizabeth's murder. He then read the entry aloud in court:

"I just f------ killed someone. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the "ohmygawd I can't do this" feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now…lol." source: USA Today

Legendary Creator Of 'Soul Train' Don Cornelius Found Dead

The legendary creator of 'Soul Train' was reported to have died of a self inflicted gun shot wound and was pronounced dead at 4:56am this morning. Police don't suspect any foul play. Mr. Cornelius's death is a heavy burden on the hearts of many who knew him personally or even to those who watched him on 'Soul Train'. He was pivotal in many entertainer's success giving them expose via his nationally syndicated TV show. His laid back smooth style brought class to the airwaves as the nation (and soon the word) watched black folks get down and boogie.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who have come into contact with him in any capacity and any format. From old school heads to today's youngsters, we've all been influenced by 'Soul Train' somehow. Whether you watched the show or participated in a "soul train line" dance, you've been touched by the magic of Don Cornelius's magic. My 14 year old son and I watch reruns of Soul Train every morning on the Bounce network, and I tell him, "see this is how we used to dance before all this nasty stuff [they call dancing] came around."

His overcoming trials and tribulations should be a testament to us all that no matter the obstacles in your way, you can do anything you set your mind to. Dream big and big things will happen in your life is the lesson, and what greater proof of this is there then creating a black oriented show for television at a time when that just wasn't happening?

["Soul Train" debuted in 1970 with low expectations and overhead. Color cameras weren’t in the budget and the dancefloor was the size of a typical living room. But the show struck a chord with an audience that had been largely ignored by other teen-oriented dance shows, most famously Dick Clark's "American Bandstand." For young, African-American kids, "Soul Train" was must-see after-school viewing because it presented mostly R&B artists that other shows neglected. And, perhaps most importantly, it showcased the hippest dance moves.

Besides calling in favors from stars such as Curtis Mayfield, the O’Jays, B.B. King and Jerry Butler that he had befriended over the years, Cornelius brought in young dancers he met at parties or on the street to cut loose in front of the cameras. They were the unpaid star attractions who popularized enduring dance moves such as the “robot” and “pop and lock.” One of the show’s most avid viewers, the young Michael Jackson, was clearly paying attention when one of the show’s dancers debuted the “moonwalk” in the ‘70s. The high-stepping “Soul Train” alumni include actress Rosie Perez, singer Jody Watley and rapper MC Hammer.

The show moved to Los Angeles in its second year and entered into national syndication, turning Cornelius from local celebrity into a music-industry tastemaker. Stars such as Sly and the Family Stone, Al Green, James Brown and Aretha Franklin appeared. Indicative of the show’s burgeoning reach (and bigger budget), Barry White showed up in 1975 wearing a black velvet tuxedo and conducting a 40-piece orchestra. White performers wanted in, too, and Elton John and David Bowie were among the guests.

Cornelius’ show mirrored African-American culture and influenced it, not just with music but with its sense of style and language. Cornelius’ invitation to visit and “style a while,” and depart with “peace, love and soul” fit with his unflappable demeanor. Behind the double-breasted suits, professorial glasses and smooth turns of phrase was a keen sense of business and community. In an industry dominated by whites, he was a pioneering African-American empire builder and partnered with Johnson Products, another black-owned Chicago institution, as a sponsor.

Though he wasn’t particularly a fan of disco or hip-hop, Cornelius made sure his show adapted to them.

Mr. Cornelius will be greatly missed. R.I.P. Check out one of the most favorites parts of Soul Train... The Soul Train Line!

Canned Swine Eaters Beware

A new report is showing a direct link between eating swine in a can (Spam) and diabetes. To be fair the study which was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition points to all processed meats as the culprit.
[The finger shouldn't be pointed at one particular product, though. Amanda Fretts, lead author of the study and a researcher at the University of Washington School of Medicine, told Reuters that "spam" is often is used to describe any kind of processed, canned meat, which is a staple food item on reservations. "A lot of communities in this study are in very rural areas with limited access to grocery stores...and they want to eat foods that have a long shelf life."] source: everydayhealth.com

Place Of 'Worship' For Atheist

Atheists across the globe will be happy to know they will have a place to 'worship' in the United Kingdom thanks to Alan de Botton, author of International Best Seller How Proust can change your Life. His plans include building this main Atheist Temple and then other ones throughout the United Kingdom.

What Atheist don't understand is that the birth of atheism is recorded in the Bible in the book of Genesis. Chapter 3 verse 5 sums it all up. The serpent tells Eve that her eyes will be opened and she'll be like gods knowing good and evil, and she eats. That was the birth of doubting God, and wanting to be God. So in essence, Atheist do believe in a god, themselves. Now that you understand where it comes from let the chuuuuch say..... you get the picture.

WTF Files: Teacher Feeds Young Children Semen

There are some sick people in this world for sure, and Mark Berndt is definitely on my list of Sick S.O.Bs. For some reason beyond my understanding he thought it would be cool to take third grades and gag them and tie them up, put big ass roaches on their face and take pictures of them. He found it so entertaining he took hundreds of pictures of them.

Some pictures had him holding his hand over their mouths. As if that wasn't disturbing enough, the children said that he fed them something that didn't taste good..and guess what? He had a picture of the kids with a spoon of some sort of white liquid held up to their mouths. The liquid was later identified as his semen. He told the children that all of this was a game so he went under the radar for quite some time until he went to get the pictures developed. To find out how the cops nabbed him and what made the parents fuming mad click here!
