Think Tanks Tuesday 5/26: Are Interracial Marriages Biblical?

Not everyone agrees with interracial marriages. Some say it brings unnecessary hardships on the children these relationships produce. Some give no logical explanation what so ever as to why they disagree with these relationships, and some go so far as to defend their opinion attempting to use the Bible; but is their view biblical? Check out how one pastor answers the question, 'are interracial marriages biblicial':

[The reason for Piper’s podcast on interracial marriage was because he was asked by a white female listener if there was anything in the Bible about a white woman marrying a black man.
Piper said in the podcast: “There are two basic restrictions on marriage in the Bible: Number one, she should marry a man. Number two, he should be a Christian.” Piper also dealt with the issue of interracial marriage in his book “Bloodlines: Race, Cross and the Christian.”
Piper continued that those who say that interracial marriage is not allowed in the Old Testament because God forbade the Israelites to marry people of other nations are reading it wrong.
According to Piper, the reason God forbade marriages outside was not because of racial discrimination but to keep the Israelites from intermarrying with those of a different faith, who worshiped other Gods.
Piper gave the illustration of Solomon, who took foreign wives and ultimately they took his heart away from God. Piper concluded his APJ message by advising women to marry a man who is strong in faith and to pray to God for guidance to lead them to the right man, whatever his color.
Another APJ that was widely listened to was Piper’s message “On Cussing,” which has been heard by more than 17,000 people.
